Keynote speaker at Penguin Pride

5th July 2017

/

I will be speaking at Penguin Pride this evening at Proud Camden. It will be a packed event with many different speakers and activities, including live music, performance poetry, photography and more. It’s a mark that there are 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England.

It’s hosted by Josh Rivers from Gay Times and I will be giving a keynote speech about trans representation in books and why it matters. I will talk about reading books as a young trans person and why it’s important that trans people see themselves represented. This is why I decided to write my own kids book along with Sarah Savage, Are You a Boy or A Girl?, to give trans kids an opportunity to see themselves. £1 from every ticket purchase will be donated directly to Stonewall.

Doors will open at 6.30pm, and the event will start at 7.30pm. More info here. See you there!
