Hi, I’m Fox Fisher. I’m an award winning artist, filmmaker and human rights campaigner with an MA in Sequential Design & Illustration. Recently I was awarded an honorary Doctor of the Arts by University of Brighton for my work in raising the awareness of trans issues and promoting arts in the media.
In 2011, I was a part of the mainstream documentary My Transsexual Summer, that aired on Channel 4. After that, I co-created the My Genderation film project along with Lewis Hancox. My Genderation celebrates trans lives and trans experiences and is currently ran by myself and my partner Owl. We’ve made over 60+ short films, many which have been endorsed by the BBC, C4 and NHS (Choices & E-Learning).
I am an advisor to All About Trans, where I facilitate and take part in interactions with the mainstream media, including BBC, The Daily Mail, The Sun & The Observer, to discuss representation of trans people in media. I promote trans matters publicly and have appeared on ITV Good Morning Britain (with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid), ITV This Morning, BBC Victoria Derbyshire, BBC Inside Out and Arte Europa.
I co-created a Trans Acting course at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama with Gendered Intelligence, I am a script consultant for Eastenders’ trans storylines and worked with Will Young on music video Brave Man, casting a trans lead. I play Jake in Radio 4’s Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin and star as Blake in the web series As We Are.
I am a Patron for LGBT Switchboard, co-creator of Children’s book: Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl? and co-founder and trustee of Trans Pride Brighton (2013+).
In 2016 I worked closely with TGEU (Transgender Europe), IGLYO (International LGBT Youth Organisation), Stonewall and Trans Iceland to create video content and films about trans people and LGBTQI people.
One my my passions is screenprinting and I’ve been fortunate enough to exhibit my work various places, art shows and have had my own solo shows. If you’re interested in taking a look at any of my work, please see [insert here]. I have also had the pleasure of speaking and screen-printing live at the Tate Modern and the V&A, merging the topics of gender and art.
I am currently working on a documentary about being non binary and I’m also currently working on a 2nd book with my partner Owl, The Trans Teen Survival Guide.
Owl is my partner in work and love and we work very closely together. We run the My Genderation film project together, make public appearances and generally work together on trans related campaigning or awareness raising. Owl comes from Iceland and was the spokesperson for Trans Iceland from 2010-2016 and remains one of the most known trans person in Iceland, traveling occasionally for events, lectures and interviews. They have been very active within the LGBTQI community in Iceland and Europe, having served as a board member of the International LGBTQI Youth and Student Organisation and taking part in various projects across Europe.
